There are many things that make me feel crazy – it would take way too long to list them all, so I’m just going to write about what is currently driving me crazy.
1. People who call a meeting and say kids can come as long as the weather is good so they can play outside. Sure, I understand this, but I think they should just say no kids if they don’t want kids to bother us during the meeting. And then suggest I find alternative arrangements for my kids – I am so not paying a babysitter to watch my kids for a meeting. If I’m paying a babysitter, it is because my husband and I are going out on a date. Of course, I don’t want to do that either – I’d rather trade with friends on watching each other’s kids than pay a babysitter – maybe I’m cheap that way. I guess this is why my husband and I don’t go on many dates and well, I’m too nervous/shy to ask others to do so because they are probably really busy.
2. People who say, “I’ll get back to you” and then never do. I do my best to respond to e-mails, phone calls, texts right away – sure, sometimes things keep me busy, but I do my best. I don’t think I can say the same for others.
3. People who complain about others not responding to their evite but then don’t give you the same courtesy.
4. My own insecurities.
5. Children who whine. I love my kids and most of the time, they are great, but wow, when they get into that whiny voice, I just can’t stand it.
6. Shots in the eye (I have an infection in my left eye causing the need to get a shot in it every few months). This drives me temporarily crazy as it hurts/burns. Next appointment in just a mere 17 days!
7. Slow drivers. Drivers who don’t realize that the car manufacturers put in a turn signal for a reason. Drivers who forgot the rules of the road (a five way stop means that all of us stop and take turns). Bicyclists who don’t realize that they are supposed to follow the rules of the road (thinking of you crazy bicyclist from a couple days ago that I almost ran over because I had the green light and you had the red).
8. Surprise car repairs (just spent $730 to fix our minivan). It seems I’ve spent a lot of money recently on car repairs for minivan and for CRV. Universe, can I please be done for a while? A long while?
9. Children who don’t go to bed at a reasonable hour (Nicholas, I love you so very much, but sweetie, this is probably why you are in the 15th percentile in height because you never sleep.) I do not want to hear from people on ways to keep their child in bed – we’ve done them all and nothing works. Well, that’s not true, if I go to bed with him, that works most of the time, but I don’t want to go to bed at 8:30.
10. Alarms as in alarms that wake me up to go to work. Well, car alarms too actually.
And tonight, I will join in a different kind of crazy in going to a Sounders soccer match. That’s the kind of fun I like to have!
I’m going to add people who talk loudly on their cell phones in public! Grrrrr!
